IAS
focuses on the most critical topics in your healthcare facility and
gathers information for establishing current patterns in loss prevention
and risk analysis. These results have proven to be very beneficial
in helping an organization prepare for the Joint Commission Accreditation
of Healthcare Organization Survey (JCAHO Survey). IAS can assist
your organization in conducting a risk analysis and assessment under the
Environment of Care Standards to ensure that your organization complies
with the JCAHO guidelines. The following standard are addressed:
-
Safety Management
-
Life Safety Management
-
Security Management
-
Hazardous Materials
-
Emergency Preparedness
-
Utilities Management
-
Medical Equipment
JCAHO requires that each of the above areas be
formulated into a Management Plan and that the proper criteria set for
each standard be complied with in accordance with that plan.
IAS Environment of Care Program
The IAS Environment of Care Program is
customized for your organization. More stringent standards in the
healthcare industry require that facilities achieve maximum performance
with their Environment of Care Programs.
Program Specifics: IAS will
assure that your Environment of Care Program is a comprehensive review of
all sites owned and operated by your facility. The IAS Environment
of Care Program includes, but is not limited to the following services:
-
Onsite Analysis and assessment - An analysis
of all facilities for compliance levels and risk vulnerability is
conducted. The review will cover risk exposures in your work
environment and assure that all standards and regulations are complied
with.
-
Written recommendations - Each facility will
receive a written report of recommendations outlining all issues
concerning compliance and any necessary corrective actions that must be
taken.
Environment of Care Plans: Each
facility will receive specific plans in each of the seven Environment of
Care Standards (listed above) which will help to prepare that facility for
JCAHO and other regulatory surveys.
In Service Training: IAS will provide
onsite training and seminars for your entire staff. This training
will cover all related safety laws, regulations and guidelines.
Training is also available on the following topics: workplace violence,
employee practice liability, infant abduction and other healthcare
facility issues.
Implementation Review: After
training has been completed and programs have been implemented, written
reports on the compliance status of your facilities are presented to
executive management. This will provide your organization with input
of what each facility must do to remain in compliance.
Effective management of the Environment of
Care Standards includes using your current corporate processes to:
-
Reduce and control environmental hazards and
risks
-
Prevent accidents and injuries
-
Maintain safe conditions for patients,
visitors and staff
-
Avoid litigation
-
Minimize insurance claims
A safe, functional and effective environment
for patents, staff members and other individuals in the healthcare
environment is crucial to providing patient care, achieving positive
results and minimizing insurance claims and losses.
